Join Our Community!

The Junior League of Pasadena accepts members in the summer and early fall only. We are eager to meet you and answer questions at our upcoming open house!:

Thursday, September 16 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

At our historic headquarters:
149 S. Madison Avenue, Pasadena 91101

Founded 85 years ago to serve the local community, our purpose is exclusively educational and charitable. (We are also fairly social as well!) We are responsible for some of the best community service projects in Southern California, such as Kidspace Children's Museum, the docent program at the Huntington Library and a community resource center at Madison Elementary in North Pasadena. Over the years, we have donated thousands of hours and more than $3.5 million.

We are a diverse, member-run organization. Volunteers work together on a regular basis and get to know each other. You can feel great about serving the community and promoting volunteer projects. In addition, our members tell us that we offer great on-the-job training, experience that has furthered their careers or made them more effective advocating or raising money for their favorite causes.

Members also make lifetime friends. You can meet up for social events, if you want to, and share tips about favorite watering holes, parks or spots to hike. A lot of our members are new moms. Many others of us don't have kids or are single.

During your first year with the League, you would be a "provisional", getting league training and working with others in your class to put together and promote a Kid's in the Kitchen nutrition program to educate area youth. You would also volunteer on other projects of your choice.

After your provisional year, you would be an "active" member and would choose to join one of our committees:

Fundraising-Puts on our Chocolate Chip Ball
Publicity and Technology-PR and Marketing
Done-in-a-Day-Puts on one-day volunteer projects in the community
BodyWise-Puts on a one-day health and wellness event for middle-school girls
Cookbook-Markets our California Mosaic Cookbook
Training and Events-Puts on our member-wide meetings and trainings
Solicitations-Helps track and solicit donations
Program Development-Uses member input to plan the focus of service projects
Provisionals-Attracts great new members, trains them and plans social events for them
Nominating and Placement-Places members on their committees and helps choose leadership

Over time, you could continue with general membership or decide to get more leadership experience and eventually chair a committee, become a board member or even president. It's up to you!

We reach out to women of all races, religions and national origins who demonstrate an interest in and commitment to volunteerism.

Please send an e-mail or give us a call if you have questions. We hope to see you soon and to welcome you into the League.
