PASADENA, CA – The Junior League of Pasadena, Inc. (“JLP”) is excited to announce the Inaugural Junior League of Pasadena Community Expo and 10K/Kids’ K. On Sunday, January 31, 2010, the JLP Done in a Day committee will host an energizing athletic event and engaging Expo showcasing the many non-profit organizations in the greater Pasadena area that offer volunteering opportunities to local residents.
The day will kick off at 8:00am with a 10K run consisting of two loops around the Rose Bowl. The professionally timed race will have 14 race categories, awards for the top 3 finishers in each category, and a great t-shirt and goodie bag for every participant. A Kids' K will also be held just before the awards ceremony at 10:00am for local youths to participate in a healthy activity just like their parents! Registration is $20 for the 10K and $10 for the Kids’ K, and is open at www.jrleaguepasadena.org. You can also register on the day of the event starting at 6:00am.
The day will finish by celebrating the work done by volunteers in our community, in partnership with many of the incredible non-profits that are located in our area. Some of the organizations participating include 5 Acres, Club 21, Girls on The Run, San Gabriel Valley Habitat for Humanity, Pasadena Humane Society and SPCA, JLP’s BodyWise, Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Mothers' Club Family Learning Center , NATHA, Rosemary’s Children Services, Sycamores / Hathaway, Villa Esperanza, YMCA of South Pasadena/San Marino, Young and Healthy, and the YWCA of Pasadena – Foothill Valley .
To date, the JLP has gratefully received support for this event from Cabot Cheese, Ellen’s Silkscreening, Huntington Hospital , Julienne, Smart & Final , Tom Sawyer Camps, Odwalla, Road ID, and Runner’s Image Finish Line Management.

The Junior League of Pasadena, Inc. is an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women, and improving communities through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Since 1926, JLP volunteers have participated in programs serving the Pasadena community. For 2009-2010, JLP programs include BodyWise, a one-day conference for middle school girls and their caregivers in which they come together to learn about positive body image, self-esteem, self defense and much more, Kids in the Kitchen, an event which empowers children to make healthy lifestyle and nutritional choices, and Done in a Day, a program which creates immediate impact in the community through partnership to with local organizations on one-day volunteer projects.
